Frequently Asked Questions

Answers about SavyClip: what you can download, supported platforms, formats and quality, privacy, and what to do when a video does not download.

General

What is SavyClip?

SavyClip is a free online tool for saving public videos, photos and audio from popular platforms such as TikTok, Facebook, Instagram, X, Reddit, Pinterest, Vimeo, Dailymotion and Twitch, plus free stock media from Pexels and Pixabay. You paste the link of a post, SavyClip reads the files the platform makes available for it, and you choose which one to save. It also includes an audio extractor, a video to MP3 tool, a video converter and a thumbnail downloader.

Is SavyClip free to use?

Yes. Every feature is free and there is no registration, no trial period and no paid version. The site may show advertising to cover its running costs. To keep the service available for everyone, there are fair-use limits on how many links you can process per minute and on very large files or very long conversions.

Do I need an account or an app?

No. SavyClip works in the web browser of your phone, tablet or computer, so there is nothing to install and nothing to sign up for. On iPhone and iPad use Safari or any other browser; on Android, Chrome, Firefox, Samsung Internet and similar browsers all work.

Downloading

How do I download a video?

Open the post in the app or website, tap Share and choose Copy link (on a computer you can also copy the address from the address bar). Paste the link into the box on the SavyClip home page and press Download. After a few moments the result appears with the available options, such as several video qualities, an MP3 or the individual photos. Press Download next to the option you want and your browser saves the file.

Can I download videos in HD?

Yes, whenever the platform offers an HD version. SavyClip lists the qualities the platform actually provides for that post, for example 1080p, 720p and 480p, and never upscales or relabels a file. If the highest option shown is 720p or lower, that is the best version the platform makes available for that post.

Can I save only the sound of a video?

Yes. On the home page an MP3 is offered with most videos. For more control, use the Audio Extractor, which keeps the original audio track (usually as M4A, without re-encoding, so nothing is lost) and also offers MP3, or Video to MP3, which lets you pick 128, 192 or 320 kbps. A higher bitrate cannot add quality the original sound does not have.

Can I save photos, slideshows and carousels?

Yes, for platforms that publish them: TikTok photo slideshows, Instagram photos and carousels, Reddit images and galleries, Pinterest image pins, and Pexels and Pixabay photos. For posts with several pictures you can save each one separately or, when the option is shown, all of them at once as a ZIP file. For TikTok slideshows the background sound is also offered as an MP3.

Where do downloaded files go?

On iPhone and iPad, Safari saves files to the Downloads folder of the Files app; open the file there, tap Share and choose Save Video or Save Image to add it to Photos. On Android, files usually go to the Download folder, visible in the Files app and, for videos and pictures, in most gallery apps. On a computer, files go to your browser's download folder, which you can change in the browser settings.

Is there a limit on file size or video length?

Yes. To keep the service fast for everyone, the server has a maximum file size and a maximum length for conversions (MP3, M4A, WAV, WebM and MP4 conversions). Very long videos, such as full Twitch broadcasts, may only be offered in lower qualities or may be too large to process. If you see a message that a file is too large or too long, try a lower quality or the original format instead of a conversion.

Platforms

Which platforms are supported?

TikTok, Facebook, Instagram, X (Twitter), Reddit, Pinterest, Vimeo, Dailymotion, Twitch, Pexels and Pixabay, plus video previews and thumbnails from YouTube. What can be saved differs per platform, for example Twitch clips but not live streams. The Supported Platforms page shows the current status of each one on this server and links to a detailed guide for every platform.

Why can't I download YouTube videos?

YouTube's Terms of Service do not allow downloading videos except through features YouTube itself provides, so downloading from YouTube is switched off on SavyClip by default. When you paste a YouTube link you still get the video details, a link to watch it on YouTube and its thumbnail in the best available resolution. To watch YouTube videos offline, use the download feature of YouTube Premium in the official app.

Can I save private posts, stories or live streams?

No. SavyClip only works with content that anyone can see without signing in. Private accounts, friends-only posts, closed groups and communities, stories, paid or subscriber-only videos and anything protected with DRM are not supported, and posts marked as adult or NSFW are refused. Live streams can never be downloaded; on Twitch you can save clips and, when they are public, past broadcasts after the stream has ended.

Are TikTok videos saved without the watermark?

Often, yes. When TikTok provides a clean copy of the video, SavyClip offers that file. Some videos are only available from TikTok with the watermark, and in that case the video is saved exactly as TikTok serves it. SavyClip never edits the picture to remove a watermark.

Why does an Instagram post sometimes fail to load?

Instagram regularly limits how much visitors who are not signed in can see, and it applies these limits to servers too. When that happens, a public reel or photo may fail to load even though it opens in your app. Waiting a few minutes and trying again usually helps. Posts from private accounts, stories and highlights cannot be saved at all.

Privacy & safety

Do you store my videos?

No. Files are fetched from the platform when you press Download and passed straight to your browser; when a conversion is needed, temporary files are created on our server and deleted as soon as the download has finished (any left-over temporary files are removed automatically after about an hour). The link you submitted is kept only briefly, about an hour, so that the download buttons keep working, and is then deleted.

What information do you collect about me?

Very little. We do not ask for your name or email address unless you write to us. To prevent abuse we keep a salted hash of your IP address instead of the address itself, together with which platform a request was for and whether it worked. We use a cookie to remember your language and, when advertising is shown, Google AdSense may use cookies with your consent where the law requires it. The Privacy Policy explains everything in detail.

Will SavyClip ever ask for my password or login?

Never. SavyClip does not need your username, password or verification codes for any platform and only works with public posts. If a page, pop-up or message claiming to be SavyClip asks you to sign in with a social media account, it is not us; please do not enter anything and let us know at [email protected].

Troubleshooting

Why is my video not downloading?

The most common reasons are: the post is private, deleted or only visible to followers; the link points to a profile, story or playlist instead of a single post; the video is a live stream; or the platform is temporarily limiting requests. Copy the link again with the app's Share, Copy link button, make sure the post opens in a private browser window without signing in, and try again. The error message on SavyClip tells you which of these applies.

The download finished but the file will not play. What can I do?

First check that the download completed, since an interrupted download leaves a broken file; simply download it again. If you chose WebM, some players and the iPhone Photos app cannot open it, so pick MP4 instead. A free player such as VLC opens almost every format. If an MP3 or video still will not play, contact us with the link and the option you chose.

How can I contact support?

Use the form on the Contact page or write to [email protected]. If something does not work, include the link you pasted, the option you chose, the message you saw and the device and browser you used, so we can reproduce the problem. Copyright notices have their own address, [email protected].
