The original track is taken from the video exactly as the platform delivers it, without re-encoding, so nothing is lost and the file stays small. When you need maximum compatibility, choose an MP3 instead.
What you get
- The original audio track, usually as M4A (AAC), copied without re-encoding
- MP3 at 128, 192 or 320 kbps
- Videos from TikTok, Facebook, Instagram, X, Reddit, Pinterest, Vimeo, Dailymotion and Twitch
- The sound of TikTok photo slideshows
How to use it
Step 1: Copy the video link
In the app or website, open the video, tap Share and choose Copy link.
Step 2: Paste it here
Paste the link into the box on this page and press Extract Audio.
Step 3: Choose the format
Pick the original track for the best quality, or an MP3 at 128, 192 or 320 kbps.
Step 4: Download
Press Download next to your choice. MP3 files are prepared on our server first, which takes a moment.
Original track or MP3?
Videos on social platforms carry their sound as a compressed audio stream, usually AAC. The original option copies that stream into an M4A file as it is: no quality is lost, the file is created quickly and it is as small as possible. M4A plays on iPhone, iPad, Mac, Android, Windows and in most music apps. Some platforms provide the sound in another format, and then you get that file as it is.
MP3 is the most widely supported audio format; older car stereos, some media players and some editing tools only accept MP3. To create it, the sound is decoded and encoded again on our server, so choose MP3 when you need that compatibility and the original track otherwise.
Which MP3 bitrate to choose
The bitrate decides how much data is used per second of sound:
- 128 kbps: small files, fine for speech, podcasts and listening on a phone.
- 192 kbps: a good balance for music, and the default for MP3 on the home page.
- 320 kbps: the highest MP3 bitrate, for when you want to keep as much detail as possible.
What a higher bitrate can and cannot do
Sound on social media is already compressed. Converting it to a 320 kbps MP3 avoids adding new losses, but it cannot bring back detail that the platform's version never had; it mainly produces a larger file. If you want the best quality the platform offers, the original track is always the better choice.
Common problems and fixes
If no audio option appears or the extraction fails, check these points:
- The video has no sound: GIFs on X and Reddit, and some uploads, are silent, so there is nothing to extract.
- "This video is too long": MP3 conversion has a length limit. The original track is not converted, so it usually still works.
- Pexels and Pixabay links: stock footage is offered as video files only, without audio extraction.
- YouTube links: downloading from YouTube, including its audio, is switched off by default.
Respect music rights
Much of the sound on TikTok, Instagram and other platforms is commercial music licensed to the platform, not to you. Keep extracted audio for personal listening, do not publish or sell it, and use royalty-free or licensed music for your own videos.
Limitations
- Videos without a sound track cannot be converted to audio.
- MP3 conversion is limited to videos up to the site's length limit.
- Pexels and Pixabay items and YouTube videos (by default) are not available for audio extraction.
- Live streams, private and DRM-protected videos are not supported.
Questions and answers
Is M4A better than MP3?
For the same content, the original M4A track keeps the platform's quality exactly, while an MP3 is re-encoded. Choose MP3 only if your device or app does not play M4A.
Can I cut out only part of the sound?
No. The Audio Extractor saves the complete audio track. You can trim it afterwards with any audio editor or the editing app on your phone.
Does the M4A file play on iPhone?
Yes. M4A is Apple's standard audio format and plays in the Files app, in Music and in most other players.
What is the difference from Video to MP3?
Both use the same engine. The Audio Extractor focuses on keeping the original track, while Video to MP3 is the quick route to an MP3 file.
