Pixabay has its own download button as well; SavyClip is simply a quick way to get a file when you already have the link. This platform works once the site owner has added a Pixabay API key, and the status on this page shows whether it is available.
What you can download
- Pixabay videos as MP4, in the resolutions the API provides
- Photos, illustrations and vector graphics as image files
- The creator's name shown with every result
- The preview image of an item
How to use it
Step 1: Copy the Pixabay link
Open the video or image on pixabay.com and copy its address.
Step 2: Paste it into SavyClip
Paste the link into the box on the SavyClip home page and press Download.
Step 3: Choose a size
Pick a video resolution or the image size you need.
Step 4: Download and credit
Press Download next to your choice. Crediting the creator shown in the result is appreciated.
Which Pixabay links work
Use the page of one item, in any language version of Pixabay, or an image file link:
- https://pixabay.com/videos/ocean-waves-beach-123456/
- https://pixabay.com/photos/forest-path-autumn-1234567/
- https://pixabay.com/illustrations/abstract-background-1234567/ and https://pixabay.com/vectors/icon-set-1234567/
- https://pixabay.com/de/photos/forest-path-autumn-1234567/ (other languages)
- Image files on cdn.pixabay.com/photo/...
Where to find the link
On a computer, open the item on pixabay.com and copy the address from the address bar. On iPhone and Android, open the item in your browser, tap the Share button of the browser and choose Copy. Search results, collections and profile pages list many items, so open the one you want first.
The Pixabay Content License in short
Content on Pixabay may be used for free, for commercial and non-commercial purposes, and may be modified. Attribution is not required, but crediting the creator or Pixabay is appreciated. Some uses are not allowed, for example:
- selling or distributing the content on its own, unchanged, for example as prints, on physical products or on other stock or wallpaper sites;
- portraying identifiable people in an offensive, misleading or immoral way;
- using content with recognizable brands or trademarks in a way that suggests endorsement;
- using content as part of your own trademark or logo.
Quality, sizes and common problems
Pixabay's API provides videos in several renditions, typically from 640 pixels wide up to Full HD and sometimes 4K. Images are offered at up to 1280 pixels on the longer side; larger originals are available only when the site has extended access to the Pixabay API, otherwise you can get them from Pixabay's own download button. Stock footage is offered as video files only, so audio extraction is not available. Music, sound effects and GIFs are not available through the API.
As Pixabay's API terms require, results are cached for 24 hours. If a link fails with a message that the platform is not set up yet, the site owner has not added an API key.
Use free media well
Read the full Pixabay Content License on pixabay.com before using a file commercially. Pixabay does not guarantee that people, logos or artworks in a picture have given permission for every use, so check that the content suits your purpose, and credit the creator when you can.
Limitations
- Available once the site owner has added a Pixabay API key.
- Images are offered up to 1280 pixels unless this site has full API access.
- Stock footage is offered as video files only; audio extraction is not available.
- Music, sound effects and GIFs are not available through the Pixabay API.
- Results are cached for 24 hours, as Pixabay's API terms require.
Questions and answers
Do I have to credit the creator?
The Pixabay Content License does not require it, but credit is appreciated. The result shows the creator's name, for example for a line such as "Image by Name from Pixabay".
Why is the image only 1280 pixels?
Unless this site has full access to Pixabay's API, the API provides images up to 1280 pixels on the longer side. For the full-resolution original, use the download button on pixabay.com.
Can I download Pixabay music or sound effects?
No. Pixabay's API does not provide music or sound effects, so they are not supported. You can download them directly on pixabay.com.
Why does it say the platform is not available yet?
SavyClip uses the official Pixabay API, which needs a key from the site owner. Until a key is added, Pixabay links cannot be processed.
